Growing up in the Yarra, working in my father’s vineyard I quickly became aware of the effort required to grow wine grapes. It was seldom easy but always rewarding to know that your ‘piece of dirt’ produced a quality crop come vintage end.
Our belief is that the growers we work with are the true rouleurs of the wine industry. Hardworking families and individuals that roll with the seasons managing their sites during winter, nurturing to growth in spring and quite often, nervously toiling through summer to harvest. We love being on this annual journey and admire the effort our 'Rouleur Grower Peloton' put in to deliver us fine fruit.

PRIMAVERA VINEYARD - WOORI YALLOCK, YARRA VALLEY VIC
Lou Primavera first planted vines on the family’s Upper Yarra Valley property in 2001. Boasting a diverse range of grape varieties and clones, the Primavera Vineyard produces low yielding, high quality fruit where both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir star. We take two clones (Bernard 76 and P58) of Chardonnay from two individual blocks on the same property - both blocks sit at different elevations and have differing aspects. The property itself undulates down from a highpoint of 240m above sea level and the soil type is friable red volcanic clay loam which is key in producing wines with wonderful balance, fragrance and flavor intensity.
PRUNERS HUT VINEYARD - McLAREN FLAT, McLAREN VALE SA
Stewart and Ann Gowers purchased the Pruners Hut Vineyard in 2010 and became the custodians of some ancient and incredibly fine soil. Situated near the base of the Sellicks Foothills, this dry grown block was first planted to bush vine Grenache in 1964. The soil comprises of grey alluvial into pale sand over ironstone clay. At its highpoint, the vineyard sits at 90m above sea level and faces south toward the sea. The Pruners Hut vineyard is certainly one of our favourite blocks to work with, and provides us wine with exceptional power, structure and complexity.
CORDILLERA VINEYARD – MACCLESFIELD, YARRA VALLEY VIC
Planted exclusively to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the Cordillera vineyard offers a spectacular northerly aspect overlooking Healesville, Yarra Glen and the Yarra Ranges farther east. First planted in 2006, the Cordillera site is (mostly) dry-grown on deep, red and grey volcanic clay loam at around 300m elevation, rolling steeply downhill. Owners Laurie and Andrew Cordell conventionally manage the vineyard but prefer a more ‘hands off approach’ to viticulture, only doing what’s needed, when required.
SPRINGS HILL VINEYARD - BLEWITT SPRINGS, McLAREN VALE SA
Expert growers with an eye for detail, The Whaite family have been managing their Blewitt Springs vineyard since 1975. Dry grown on soils consisting of course grey sand over mottled orange clay and ironstone gravels, Springs Hill provides us exceptional parcels of Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro. This is our most northerly and elevated (200m) McLaren Vale vineyard. Positioned with a south westerly aspect, Springs Hill tracks a climatically cooler path with maritime influences coming from the Gulf of St Vincent and evening breezes flowing down from the Southern Lofty Ranges.
